The story behind the North Macedonia motif

For the North Macedonia design, we have combined some of the country’s most characteristic images into a delicate landscape composition.

At the center is a traditional-looking church or monastery architecture, embedded between rocks, water, and mountains. It is reminiscent of the centuries-old Orthodox churches and monasteries that define the cultural and scenic landscape of North Macedonia.

The water and the surrounding mountain landscape capture the impressive nature of the country and are particularly reminiscent of the combination of lake and mountains for which regions like Lake Ohrid are known.

A radiant sun appears above the landscape. It picks up on one of the visual motifs directly associated with North Macedonia and, in our composition, also stands for warmth, origin, and the home to which one always feels drawn back.

Small birds and the open lines of the landscape give the motif a sense of breadth and lightness.
